Choosing the Right Cable Cutters

For smaller and frequently used electrical cables, conventional cable cutting pliers can provide good control and manoeuvrability. For larger-diameter cables, a longer-handled or ratchet cutting tool may reduce the effort required, provided it is rated for the particular conductor.
Do not assume a cable cutter designed for copper or aluminium conductors can also cut steel wire, armoured cable or other harder materials. These can require specialist cutting tools and may damage conventional cable cutter blades.
