The Protego range provides electricians and electrical contractors with a selection of devices for building, protecting and configuring compatible consumer units, including surge protection devices (SPDs), arc fault detection devices (AFDDs), residual current devices (RCDs) and associated accessories.
Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) are designed to help protect electrical installations and connected equipment against transient overvoltages. Protego surge protection products can be incorporated into compatible consumer unit configurations where surge protection is required.
AFDDs (Arc Fault Detection Devices) provide additional protection by detecting characteristics associated with potentially dangerous electrical arc faults. Depending on the individual Protego device, AFDD functionality may be combined with other forms of circuit protection, so always check the specification of the particular product.
RCDs (Residual Current Devices) monitor current imbalance between conductors and disconnect the supply when the specified residual current threshold is reached. Protego RCDs are available for compatible circuit protection arrangements within the Niglon system.
The range also includes Niglon Protego consumer unit accessories, such as spacer frames and other installation components, allowing electricians to configure and complete compatible Protego assemblies.
Choosing the Right Protego Device or Accessory
When selecting a Niglon Protego SPD, AFDD or RCD, check the required protection function together with the device's current rating, residual current sensitivity, number of poles, device type and other relevant electrical characteristics.
For surge protection, check the SPD type and installation requirements. For RCDs and AFDDs, select the device according to the circuit design, connected loads and applicable requirements of the installation.
Circuit protection devices and accessories should also be checked for compatibility with the specific Niglon Protego consumer unit and associated devices rather than assuming components from different consumer unit systems are interchangeable.
