PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Electricians & Trades
Shop Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at Order Electrical, with safety equipment for electricians, electrical contractors, installers, maintenance professionals and other tradespeople.
PPE is designed to help protect workers against specific workplace hazards and forms an important part of safe working practices across electrical installation, construction, maintenance, engineering and workshop environments.
Depending on the products available, our PPE range can include safety glasses and eye protection, protective gloves, knee pads, masks and respiratory protection, hearing protection, safety headwear and other protective equipment for professional trade use.
For electricians, appropriate PPE may be required when carrying out tasks such as drilling, cutting, chasing, cable installation, maintenance and working in dusty or noisy environments. The equipment required will depend on the hazards identified for the particular task and workplace.
PPE should be considered alongside appropriate working procedures, tools and other control measures rather than as a substitute for eliminating or reducing a hazard wherever reasonably practicable.
Choosing the Right PPE
When choosing personal protective equipment, start with the hazard you need protection from. Eye protection for drilling and cutting, for example, has a different purpose from hearing protection, respiratory equipment or protective gloves.
Check the individual product's intended use, protection level, fit, size and applicable safety standard or certification. A product being described generally as safety equipment does not mean it is suitable for every electrical or construction hazard.
For electrical work in particular, do not assume ordinary protective gloves, footwear or other PPE provides electrical insulation or arc protection. Where protection against a specific electrical hazard is required, equipment should be specifically selected and rated for that application.
Comfort and fit also matter, particularly where PPE will be worn for extended periods. Correctly fitting equipment is generally easier to use consistently and should be selected for both the wearer and working environment.
