Choosing the Right Filler, Sealant or Gel
When selecting a product, first consider whether you need to fill a surface, seal a gap or protect an electrical connection. This will determine whether a filler, conventional sealant or specialist electrical gel is the appropriate choice.
For electrical joints and enclosures, check the gel or compound's stated electrical suitability, enclosure compatibility, environmental protection and application method. A sealing gel should not be relied upon to turn an unsuitable enclosure into an appropriately rated installation unless the product and enclosure system are specifically designed and approved for that purpose.
For fillers and conventional sealants, consider the surface material, location, flexibility required, curing characteristics and whether the application is indoors or outdoors. Where the product will be used around cables or electrical equipment, material compatibility should also be checked.
