CUTTING DISCS
Cutting Discs for Metal & Trade Applications
Shop cutting discs at Order Electrical, with professional abrasive cutting accessories for electricians, installers, engineers and other tradespeople.
Cutting discs are designed for use with compatible power tools to provide fast and controlled cutting of suitable materials. For electrical contractors, they can be particularly useful when working with metal conduit, cable tray, cable management, brackets, channel and other metal components encountered during installation work.
Our range can include metal cutting discs, thin cutting discs and abrasive cutting wheels in different diameters and specifications to suit compatible angle grinders and cutting applications.
Thin cutting discs can provide a fast, relatively narrow cut through suitable materials, making them useful where accuracy and reduced material removal are important. Different disc specifications are available for materials such as steel and stainless steel, subject to the manufacturer's stated application.
Cutting discs are consumable power tool accessories, so selecting the correct disc for both the material and machine is important for cutting performance, disc life and safe operation.
Choosing the Right Cutting Disc
When choosing a cutting disc, first check the material you intend to cut. A disc designed for general steel may have different characteristics from one specifically rated for stainless steel (INOX) or other materials.
Next check the disc diameter, thickness, bore size and maximum operating speed against the angle grinder or power tool. The disc must be compatible with the machine, and its maximum rated speed must not be exceeded.
Thinner discs can provide quicker, cleaner cuts with a narrower kerf, while different disc constructions and thicknesses may be preferable for more demanding applications. Always use a disc specifically intended for cutting rather than grinding where a cutting operation is required.
Appropriate guards and PPE, including suitable eye and face protection, should be used in accordance with the disc and power tool manufacturers' instructions.
